It’s only been a week since we rowed into Salcombe harbour after 92 days at sea, and I just did two talks in a row at the Salcombe Yacht Club. The reception was incredible. The place was rammed and it was great to see such a lot of children and young people in the audience. I cycled through photos of our journey on the overhead projector, and I’d memorised the talk so I didn’t have to read from notes. Then came the questions – people, it seems, are fascinated by the following: the capsizes (they were scary, but also fun), where we poo (in a bucket), and whether me and Loz fell out with each other (no). After the talk we auctioned off a picture of dad’s boat, raising £2,500 for The Brain Tumour Charity.
