Bizarre talking in front of some of my old teachers at Exeter School in Devon. There were about 40 students and teachers in all. My old kayak teacher Pete Scott was there – the guy responsible for getting me into the sport in the first place, and, I suppose, ultimately responsible for me deciding to row across the Atlantic. At one point during tonight’s talk I got told off by my old headmaster cos I mentioned drugs and alcohol too much. During the row Loz and I were popping codeine like candy and drinking far too much rum and that didn’t go down too well. Met four girls afterwards who had decided to row across the English Channel.
