I gave a talk to Eton College’s Shackleton Society today — a club for adventurers at the famous boarding school. A lot of them had been hiking in the Himalayas, others were kayakers or rowers and they had some really interesting stories about stuff they’d done. Their teacher fell asleep during the talk which was hilarious. Also got some really intellectual questions: how we got power on the boat (solar), specifics about the boat design and how it was made, what our diet was, the training involved – all the sorts of things you’d want to know if you were going to do something like this yourself. I think we may see some future ocean rowers among them.
